Calling All Watchdogs

Last year as a club we needlessly mowed a lot of dead grass. Club officers have decided to cut back on the mowing frequency during dry periods.

Should you notice that the grass/weeds are getting out of hand, please let a board member know. Alternately you can send an e-mail using the link at the bottom of the page.

FHRPC is an NRA recruiter. Click to renew through the club to receive a discount. When you do, the club receives a rebate from the NRA.

NRA Requirements for FHRPC Members

Any regular member who joined the FHRPC after December 31, 2000 must maintain membership in the National Rifle Association of America, here after referred to as the NRA, to be considered in good standing. Reference FHRPC By-Laws, Article 5.2 NRA Membership.

NRA dues maybe submitted with the annual dues payment. Regular members may make their NRA dues payment to the FHRPC, by doing so establishes proof of membership in the NRA.

If not renewing through FHRPC, proof will consist of one of the following:

  • A legible photo copy of your current NRA dues card that has expiration date.
  • The mailing label off of your current NRA magazine. Your NRA number and expiration date are on that label.
  • An e-mail receipt from the NRA after renewing online. Forward the e-mail to the club President or Secretary.

Please write your NRA membership number on the memo line of your personal check made payable to FHRPC. The FHRPC Secretary along with the Treasurer will forward the appropriate dues to the NRA.

FHRPC Membership Requirements

Eligibility

Any citizen of the United States of America eighteen years of age or over and resident in our community may become a member of the FHRPC on vote of the Executive Committee after:

  1. Subscribing to the oath of allegiance in Article 4,
  2. Payment of the usual initiation fee and dues,
  3. Completion of range orientation and
  4. Showing proof of membership in the National Rifle Association of America (NRA).

Residency

A person is resident in our community if he or she maintains their full-time residence within the following geographic boundaries:

  1. All of Allegany County and Garrett County, Maryland,
  2. Bedford County and Somerset County, Pennsylvania, south of the Pennsylvania turnpike,
  3. Mineral and Hampshire County, West Virginia, north of route 50 and
  4. The portion of Morgan County, West Virginia west of highway 522.

Oath

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. I certify that I am a citizen of the United States of America and that I am not a member of any organization or group pledged to, or working for, a program aimed at the destruction of our present system of government established by the Constitution of the United States. I further certify that I have never been convicted of a felony nor pled guilty to a felony or any crime of violence, and that there are no federal or state laws that restrict my access to firearms or ammunition.

How do I acquire two signatures of members in good standing who personally can vouch for my character on the application? Simple, shoot in a league.

If you are not interested in shooting in a league that parallels with your shooting interest, you are missing the main objective of FHRPC. In league shooting at FHRPC you compete against yourself, no other shooters. League shooting is one of the best ways to “acquire two signatures of members in good standing who have personal knowledge of you and can vouch for your character”. You get to know several members and they get to know you. Contact the league chairman if you are interested in participating. League schedules will be posted on this site early each spring.

FAQs

How do I become a member?

Thank you for your interest in the Fort Hill Rifle & Pistol Club (FHRPC).

There is approximately a two year wait to join the club.  If you want to join, here are the steps to take.

  • Obtain a new membership application from a current member of FHPRC.
  • Get references and signatures from two current members of FHRPC.
  • Sent your application along with the $25 application fee to the club’s P.O. Box.  The application fee is used to perform a background check that you must pass.

When do I pay my club dues?

Your club dues must be paid by December 31 of this year. Send them to the PO Box or drop them off at the lock box at Morningside Dr.

When do I become a life Member?

From the by-laws…

3.2 Life Membership. A life member is any member in good standing with twenty-five or more years of continuous membership with the FHRPC. A life member is exempt from paying yearly dues, A life member is entitled to:

(1) A key for access to FHRPC property,

(2) One vote in the annual election of FHRPC officers, and

(3) The opportunity to hold office as an elected officer.

3.2B Life Membership Dropped After 2015. The category of life membership is dropped completely for all members who joined FHRPC after 2015. All members who joined prior to 2016 will be treated in accordance [with] Article 3.2 Life Membership.
